What we install in new homes

Ceiling insulation

Knauf Earthwool® ceiling batts fitted between the ceiling joists to the R-value on your BASIX certificate.

Wall insulation

Thermal batts in external walls, installed before the plasterboard goes up so the wall cavity is properly filled.

Acoustic insulation

Acoustic batts in internal walls and between floors to cut noise between bedrooms, bathrooms, media rooms and living areas.

Underfloor insulation

Batts for suspended timber floors, fitted between the joists so ground-floor rooms stay warm in winter.

Installed at the right stage of your build

Insulation has to go in at the right time. We book each stage with your site supervisor so the next trade is not held up:

  • Wall batts once the frame, roof and rough-in are complete, before plasterboard
  • Ceiling batts once the roof is on and the ceiling is ready, from above or below depending on access
  • Underfloor batts before the flooring goes down, or from underneath on raised floors

BASIX and NCC requirements in Sydney

Every new home in NSW needs a BASIX certificate. Its thermal performance section sets the insulation R-values for the ceiling, walls and floor, and your certifier signs off those commitments. We install to the R-values on your certificate and can supply product details on request.

Coastal Sydney is in National Construction Code climate zone 5 and western Sydney is in zone 6, which is one reason the R-values differ from home to home.

Who we work with

  • Volume and custom home builders
  • Developers of duplexes, townhouses and small multi-residential projects
  • Owner-builders
  • Granny flat and secondary dwelling builders

Frequently Asked Questions

When should insulation go into a new build?

Wall batts go in once the frame and rough-in are done and before plasterboard. Ceiling batts go in once the roof is on, and underfloor batts before the flooring is laid or from underneath. We book each stage with your site supervisor.

What R-value do I need for a new home in Sydney?

It depends on the design and the climate zone: coastal Sydney is climate zone 5 and western Sydney is zone 6. Your BASIX certificate lists the insulation R-values for the ceiling, walls and floor, and we install to those.

Can you quote from my plans?

Send your plans and BASIX certificate with your enquiry and we will use them to price the job. Call (02) 7233 1266 if you would like to talk it through.

Do you install acoustic insulation?

Yes. We install acoustic batts in internal walls and between floors, most often around bedrooms, bathrooms and media rooms.

Do you insulate existing homes?

Existing homes are looked after by Insulation Extract, our sister company in the Energy Efficiency Group. Visit insulationextract.com.au/insulation-sydney for insulation removal and retrofit insulation.
